CHANGELOG
What has changed
KEYSTORM is a project I work on in my own time, so changes arrive in bursts. Newest first.
2 October 2026
- Every page now carries the date it was published and the date it last changed, taken from the commit history rather than typed in.
- Added author attribution across the guides, and an about page that says who builds this.
- Started this changelog.
- The results screen now names your weakest keys from the run you just played. Click it to open the full report.
- Added a Progress tab to the key report: your speed for each day you play, how it has changed since your first days, and which keys have improved.
- Your first run is now guided. Ships fall slower, a hint shows what to type, and you lose no lives until you have shot down three ships.
- The game-over sound is a tenth of its old size, so there is less to download before you play.
- Corrected the home page and about page, which said the game used no sound files. The music and main sound effects are recordings.
4 September 2026
- Published nine typing guides: touch typing, keyboard layouts, ergonomics, speed plateaus, common mistakes, numbers and symbols, mechanical keyboards, and typing speed by profession.
- Rebuilt the site navigation around a guides section.
- Removed duplicated passages between the home page, the rules page and the about page.
31 August 2026
- Fixed two analytics faults. Restarting from the pause menu was not being recorded at all, and abandoned runs were being dropped because events fired as the page closed never left the browser.
29 August 2026
- Added game telemetry: wave progress, run length, accuracy and word pack selection.
- Added the key analytics, game modes and terms pages.
24 August 2026
- Expanded the site documentation: how to play, about and contact.
12 August 2026
- Added analytics so I can see whether anybody is actually playing.
- Daily streaks, word packs and a tension pass over the difficulty curve.
9 August 2026
- Rebuilt the front page.
- Put the falling targets in bracketed plates so they read against the sky.
- Set up the deployment pipeline and the sitemap.
8 August 2026
- Added a landing page and moved the game itself to /play.
- Rebuilt every screen on one visual language: title, results, key report, multiplayer lobby and pause menu.
- Rebuilt the heads-up display as instrument panels, and moved it out of the lane the words fall down.
- Redrew the ship as plated metal and the shots as arrowheads.
- Fixed a bug where pressing Escape during a match abandoned it with no confirmation.
7 August 2026
- First working version.
- Rebuilt the audio engine with layered impacts and a real soundtrack.
- Added a settings screen and rebuilt the pause menu.
- Added a portrait board and an on-screen keyboard, so the game works on a phone.
- Added a test suite, and fixed four confirmed bugs it found.
